THE MISTAKE OF THE UNION…Part II

I urge you to listen to this week's UnCommonSense 2.0 pod-cast this week. Lou Conrad and I will be discussing the State of the Union Speech. I have a few thoughts about the President’s speech that I will share with you now.

I hoped and felt that the President had to move to the center in the same way that former President Clinton did several years ago. America is a center right nation. You can campaign from the left but you need to govern from the middle. If you don’t, not much can be accomplished and you risk losing the independents. I thought that the President, although a far left ideologist, would take a turn towards pragmatism. I was wrong.

Last Wednesday evening I saw an angry man, who decided to lecture, scold and taunt those who disagree with him. He gave lip service to working together with the opposition party and chose to play the blame game. He misrepresented numbers, policies and positions of his opponents. He was in the “bully pulpit” and he chose to try to bully the U. S. Senate, the Supreme Court and anyone else who has dared to be critical of his administration and policies. He made the decision to ignore what the people have told him in Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey. We saw a man who was talking down to all of us stupid people who just aren’t bright enough to understand what he is doing. We the people are not intelligent enough to think for ourselves or discuss the issues of the day unless we agree with him.

I have been involved in politics for several decades and I have seen a lot of politicians that had huge egos, but the President has taken egocentrism to an art form. His manner, his message and his attitude, suggests that he is driven by an ego that is out of control and borders on a god complex.

The President distorts reality to suit his agenda. He will blame former President Bush, Congressional Republicans, the Supreme Court, and the media and in some instances members of his own party. He has claimed that he didn’t make any backroom deals, implying it was only the Democrats in Congress. What does he call the health care deal he brokered with the unions?

In his speech he distorted statistics, he chided those who disagree with his positions, the President even misrepresented the Supreme Court’s decision on the most recent election law that dealt with first amendment free speech. Then he scolded the Justices sitting in front of him. The Justices are an easy target for the President, because they will not comment or fight back.

The President continued his assault on former president Bush, taking no responsibility for anything on his watch. His comments about how he may carry some blame rang insincere and phony. Even after he seemed to take responsibility he immediately blamed someone else.

There was no indication that he was sincere when he said that the two parties must work together and cooperate. What Mr. Obama seems to mean by cooperation is that his opponents should back off and fall in line.

He has not rethought his initiatives; in fact, he plans to escalate the effort to push health care and cap and trade through. He has made no effort to listen or take seriously the concerns of millions of Americans.

Mr. Obama’s agenda his simply to get his way because he knows more than us poor working slobs and to intimidate and stamp out any group, any media outlet or any individual that has the gall to criticize him.

I was disappointed in the President; he is a rigid and angry man that doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get America or Americans.

God Bless America and the American people, Mr. President you may not get us but we have figured you out pretty well.
