I teach and evaluate college public speakers. At times I give an assignment to my class evaluate speeches of public figures. During the campaign we all were impressed with the speaking ability of Barak Obama. He was commanding, articulate and inspirational in his delivery. What happened?

When did it become out of fashion to at least to give lip service to the Constitution? When did we decide, as a people, that the rights we have that are guaranteed by this document could be compromised by events, political climate and ambitious politicians?

Okay, so I slacked off for a while. Sue me.

News from the medical front: I have been recovering pretty well, with a few setbacks, three fast, bumpy trips down my stairs, and lower doses of Prednisone, which brings on more pain, which brings about higher doses of the good, *legal* drugs.

And now on to happier things...

I have to postpone my weekend getaway to Tampa this year, probably until the summer, but I want to do something fun NOW...

I have always resisting summing up a year until it was over. I also am not a mystic so I don’t know what this year will be like beyond the five day. But I do have some thoughts about the past year and some hope for this year.

It started out as usual. I made some important personal changes. I enjoyed my classes and we continued the first year of UCSradio.com.

Is there anyone really surprised that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been taken into custody by Federal Agents for Corruption?

So my posting became sparse by the end, I lasted longer than I thought I would posting on a regular basis.  I had Thanksgiving in York with Elizabeth, John, and their friends John and Margret.  It was an amazing evening and the food was fantastic! I even got to see a bit of the Cowboys-Seahawks game on tv which was the first time I have seen American Football all year.
