I was made aware this morning that on C-Span, President Obama during a news conference or press briefing was discussing some issue involving male responsibility. From what I can figure out (and I am looking for the video) the ONE, said something about “ young men must realize that their responsibility as fathers does not end with conception.”

This is the first time I have blogged during the show. Most of you will never see our studios but right now it is very hot. Toby and I are right next to the equipment and it puts out a lot of heat.

We all know that we are in difficult times.

In the past, I might have gone on a rant about Bush-Obama or democrats/republicans. But since it really doesn't matter because politicians are politicians and there really isn't two political parties just two that for some reason try to convince us and themselves that there are two parties but I can't see a difference.

The President has been in office for over a hundred days. The Congress is acting like, well, the Congress. There will soon be a nominee for the Supreme Court. Major corporations are going into bankruptcy. The stock market is up and down, mostly down. The government is intruding in more areas of our lives. It seems we are living in a downsized, weaker America.

Is anyone surprised?

Well today is the big day…that’s right…the first day this year that we are working for ourselves. Since January 1, 2009 we have been working for our government…cool huh?

I teach and evaluate college public speakers. At times I give an assignment to my class evaluate speeches of public figures. During the campaign we all were impressed with the speaking ability of Barak Obama. He was commanding, articulate and inspirational in his delivery. What happened?

When did it become out of fashion to at least to give lip service to the Constitution? When did we decide, as a people, that the rights we have that are guaranteed by this document could be compromised by events, political climate and ambitious politicians?
